new shoes

Since my ankle surgery last October, I haven’t been walking. I intended to purchase a new pair of boots as soon as Dr. Sanders signed off on the whole walking thing and so purchased, day-before-yesterday, a pair of Ariat Sedona. So far I am impressed by the comfort; Of the four boots I tried, this was the only pair that introduced no pain into the equation. Also, the bricks’n’mortar store was US$5 less than online. Woot! In combination with the Thorlo Extreme Ski Sock #29110 I am a walkin’ man.

I usually do not get to jet about the country but this weekend past my Eva & I visited the finest inn I’ve ever. Given the infrequency of real vacations in my life to-date, I hope you won’t discount this glowing review, and I trust you’ll take some time to visit for yourself. Pay attention to the shrinking access ‘bars’ on your cellie, and from the moment that the cell towers can no longer find you, I heartily recommend turning off all electronic devices, reducing the cruise to 47 mph (or less), and generally doing whatever it takes to disconnect from the vigorous world that pays you so well that you can take off for a weekend, week or more to a fabulous inn like Turtle Beach Inn. Just go; Reconnect to who and what you really are–a beautiful, happy, serene & peaceful person.

Found some new reading material tonight; Although I intended to research plugging Sirius into my Prius, i found Stanford HCI instead. Nice trade.

ed:20060812; deleted tirade 🙂

An acquaintance said it well when commenting on a reality tv  episode about decisions; “If I had known it would end this way I would not have watched it.” I hope that won’t be what she thinks in  forty years (after an estimated 116,000+ hours) of commercially funded, “un-biased” television program watching…

During the drive to Greenville I uploaded a bunch of flickrs and signed up for simpy. I cannot guess how things will work out with Flickr and del.icio.us now they are Yahoo’s but I am not waiting for the fallout. That company hasn’t exactly shown itself to be keeping 2.0 eyes on the present and the customer’s best interests in mind for the future–IMHO. Will add notes here as I test the waters for a flickr replacement and as I sample simpy!

  1. Picasa is looking really good, and a Linux “port” is on the way.
